Is Mod Chipping Legal?
On December 5 2006, the Australian Federal Government amended Australia's Copyright Act to classify mod-chips as Access Control Technological Protection Measure (ACTPM) circumvention devices.
However any console that employs a region code (or similar geographical market segmentation device) is not protected under the new laws. Law firms such as Minter Ellisonhave confirmed that if a games console contains a region code then mod-chips for that console are entirely legal so long as they are able to bypass that region code.

All Modchips we sell or install to consoles comply with this law.

ModChips have legal uses, and illegal uses.
What is illegal is using these devices to play pirated copies of games that you don't own.
Renting a game, ripping/copying it, and returning it is illegal!

ModChips bought from our store should only be used for:

• Playing any original games purchases from different regions.
• Using homebrew software.
• Playing backups of games you have legally purchased.

Brisbane ModChips does not support piracy. Never ask us on information about illegally obtaining games as we cannot help you.
We are very lucky in Australia to have the laws that we do, so don't abuse it.

Do you offer a warranty?
Brisbane ModChips offers a life Warranty on all Mod Chips for the life of the console and 3 years warranty on all new HDD installs. The warranty only covers manufacturers defects and faults caused by installation.

Why get a ModChip for my Console?
There are a number of reasons why you might want a modchip, too many to list but here are a few; For all Consoles you may want to backup your original games for safe keeping and play your backup copies; You may want to play imported / NTSC games; if it is an Xbox, you may want to install Linux and use your Xbox as a computer.

How long will it take?
Installation time depends on the Console you want upgraded but the longest upgrade takes 2 hours so we try to get all jobs done the same day, all depending on our work load when the Console comes in.

Can I still play online with a ModChip installed?
Some consoles yes and some no, ask about this when you contact us.

Will I void my manufacturers warranty by having a ModChip installed? Yes.

Do you sell backup games?
No, we do not sell backup or pirated games.

Can I post my Console to you for installation or repairs?
Yes, but you are responsible for all postal costs involved. (Installation price remains the same.)

Will a ModChip make my console multi-region?
With most consoles, Yes.
